WYO’s most advanced orchestra; the Worcester Youth Symphony Orchestras is comprised of highly dedicated and trained musicians who perform in four formal concerts per year.

Demanding symphonic repertoire such as Resphigi’s Pines of Rome, Copland’s Billy the Kid and Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring have been performed in some of Massachusetts’ finest concert auditoriums such as Mechanics Hall and Tuckerman Hall.

Highlights from past seasons include international tours to Russia, Italy, Eastern Europe, England and Scotland.

This intermediate level group of the Worcester Youth Orchestras is comprised of motivated young musicians. Members of the WYCO orchestra learn how to play in a chamber symphony orchestra setting that includes winds and brass.

Musicians perform quality repertoire focusing on composers such as Haydn, Mozart, Telemann and Beethoven in four formal concerts per year. Emphasis is on learning the fundamentals of orchestral playing.

Every other year members of the Concert Orchestra tour regionally to cities such as Philadelphia and Washington D.C.

The WYO program also offers chamber music. Members of the WYO program meet weekly before rehearsal for hourly coachings in a variety of formats: string quartets, brass ensembles, woodwind trios etc. All groups perform in a minimum of two recitals per year.
