WYO’s
most advanced
orchestra; the
Worcester Youth
Symphony Orchestras
is comprised of
highly dedicated and
trained musicians
who perform in four
formal concerts per
year.
Demanding symphonic
repertoire such as
Resphigi’s Pines of
Rome, Copland’s
Billy the Kid and
Stravinsky’s Rite of
Spring have been
performed in some of
Massachusetts’
finest concert
auditoriums such as
Mechanics Hall and
Tuckerman Hall.

Highlights from
past seasons
include
international
tours to Russia,
Italy, Eastern
Europe, England
and Scotland.

This
intermediate level
group of the
Worcester Youth
Orchestras is
comprised of
motivated young
musicians. Members
of the WYCO
orchestra learn how
to play in a chamber
symphony orchestra
setting that
includes winds and
brass.
Musicians perform
quality repertoire
focusing on
composers such as
Haydn, Mozart,
Telemann and
Beethoven in four
formal concerts per
year. Emphasis is on
learning the
fundamentals of
orchestral playing.

Every other year
members of the
Concert
Orchestra tour
regionally to
cities such as
Philadelphia and
Washington D.C.
The WYO program
also offers
chamber music.
Members of the
WYO program meet
weekly before
rehearsal for
hourly coachings
in a variety of
formats: string
quartets, brass
ensembles,
woodwind trios
etc. All groups
perform in a
minimum of two
recitals per
year. |
